TITLE : Medical Officer(Child and Adolescent Health)

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :

To support countries in the Region in the development and implementation of policies, strategies and operational plans for child and adolescent health.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL :

Undertake situation analysis in child and adolescent health and define ways of assuring quality of care at all levels of service delivery; provide technical support to countries in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating interventions and programmes in child and adolescent health; advocate a multi-sectoral approach to the promotion of child and adolescent health; collaborate with partners to provide coordinated support for child and adolescent interventions; undertake research priority health problems to provide evidence for the development of interventions and programmes. for child and adolescent health services.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

EDUCATION AND SKILLS :

Recognised Medical or Nursing degree. Postgraduate degree in Paediatrics and in clinical practice. Experience in national, district, community and primary health care desirable.

EXPERIENCE :

At least 10 years\'' experience in a senior managerial position and/or in clinical practice. Experience in national, district, community and primary health care desirable.

LANGUAGES :

Excellent knowledge of English or French and a working knowledge of the other language. Working knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.

ANNUAL SALARY(net of fax) :

US$52,503 at single rate and US$56,380 with 

primary dependants. POST ADJUSTMENT : 17.1% of the above figures. The percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards.
