National Health Insurance: Population Coverage, Contribution Rate & Benefit Payment
- By the end of 2016, 50.763 million people were brought under the coverage of the National Health Insurance (NHI), which reflects a year-on-year expansion of 0.54%. The NHI covers 97.1% of all population under public health insurance and assistance schemes.
- The total contributions levied in 2016 amounted to KRW 47.593 trillion, which is up 7.4% from 2015. The per capita contribution was KRW 939,996, which represents a year-on-year growth of 6.9%.
