3rd Korean Human Awards Ceremony,

Celebrating beautiful mentor-mentee relationship

 

- Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), Kyunggi Women’s High School, and Seoul Youth Service Center receive presidential citation for their excellent mentoring programs –

Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Rim, Chae Min) holds the 3rd Korean Human Awards Ceremony to reward individuals and organizations that have been well involved and have carried out good mentoring programs at 16:00 on 22 Nov. (Tue.) at KBS Hall.

Ministry of Health and Welfare has been giving awards to excellent mentoring cases through the contest since 2009 as part of the human network program.

Human Network

It is a personal capacity development program to help children, youth, and the disabled from the low-income class by connecting them with more experienced and knowledgeable people from among the leaders of the society or those who have already overcome similar difficulties.  

 

This year, 32 teams (including organizations and individuals) including three organizations that receive presidential citation will be awarded for their contribution to social cohesion by helping the underprivileged grow and adapt to the society.

 

Presidential citation will be given to IBK, Kyunggi Women’s High School, and Seoul Youth Service Center.

- IBK is providing assistance to underprivileged neighbors through various and comprehensive mentoring activities such as education mentoring, life mentoring, self-support/career mentoring, and debt clinic, etc.

- Kyunggi Women’s High School is helping students from different cultural backgrounds improve their learning and adjustment to Korean culture through a mentoring program between students from its multi-culture club and students from multicultural families in the community.     

- Seoul Youth Service Center is helping youths make healthy changes in their lives and contributing to the academic study and research on youths through a mentoring program for the marginalized youths.

Prime minister Citation will be given to Park, Jae Chul, a social worker, Daejeon Office of Education, Pusan Parkside Rehabilitation Hospital, Seoul Seocho Bangbae Youth Center, and KT IT Supporters.

- Among the awardees, Park, Jae Chul has helped a currently 12-year-old child grow healthily and well who was transferred to a social facility where Park was working through 6 years of mentoring relationship and especially, he has such a heart-moving experience during the mentoring that he helped find the child’s mother.

Health and Welfare Minister Citation will be given to 10 organizations and individuals including   the Korea Federation of Organizations of the Disabled that has brought out mutual growth and support through mentoring among the disabled.

 

An official from Ministry of Health and Welfare said, “we hope that this Human awards, which is celebrating its third ceremony this year, will provide an opportunity for more people to be interested and get involved in mentoring.”  

 

In the meantime, K-pop stars such as Wonder Girls, Seong, Si Kyung, Huhgak, 4Minute, and MBLAQ will be joining the celebration to add more festive mood with their performances.
