Prevalence of Obesity and Current Smoking Rate
- In 2015, the prevalence of obesity―the proportion of obese individuals in the total adult population aged 19 and above―rose to 33.2%, which represents a year-on-year growth of 2.3%p.
- Compared to the 2001 levels, the male obesity rate went up by 7.9%p to 39.7%, while the female obesity rate went down by 1.4%p to 26%.
- The smoking rate―the proportion of smokers in the total adult population aged 19 and above―fell by 1.6%p from 24.2% in 2014 to 22.6% in 2015.
