Osong Health Technology Administration Complex celebrates its first anniversary

- Only 58.6% of the entire employees have moved to the area and there is need for more medical equipment to be still installed.

 

As of 20 Dec., it has been one year since six government entities including Korea Food & Drug Administration moved into the Osong Health Technology Administration Complex where bio/health/medical care-related industry, academia, research institutes, government agencies are gathered together.

 

Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Rim, Chae Min) had a one-year anniversary celebration with around 400 participants including local residents, government entity employees and guests such as Vice President of the National Assembly Hong, Jae-Hyung, Chungbook Governor Lee, Si Jong, National Assembly member Byun, Jae Il at 16:00 on 20 Dec. (Tue.)

 

At the event, Minister Rim presented CEO of MR Engineering, Yoon, Chang Ro and ten others with the ministerial citation for their contributions to the settlement conditions of the Osong Health Technology Administration Complex and the stabilization of the Administration Complex facilities and encouraged the employees.

 

In the meantime, a survey was conducted on around 2,400 employees by Ministry of Health and Welfare to identify the status of the movement of the employees of the relocated entities as it has been one year since the Complex was relocated;

 

According to the survey, 58.6% of all the employees are living in the nearby areas in long-term and monthly rental houses and apartments. Those who live as registered Chungcheong province citizens by moving into the areas with all their families account just for less than 20% of the entire employees.

 

It appears that more than 72% of the employees are satisfied with the current working conditions and their lives in the Complex according to the satisfaction level survey, but since there are few reliable medical institutions within the Complex, a majority number of the employees (over 92%) think that there is an urgent need for the installation of a medical room within the Complex

- Particularly, it indicates that the employees whose relocation is being deferred due to their children’s education or matters concerning their spouse, etc (over 80% of non-relocated employees) are asking for daily and night-time commuter bus service.

 

In this regard, Ministry of Health and Welfare will restructure and expand the Osong Complex management organization*and build more facilities for the convenience and welfare of the residents, such as a medical room within the welfare facilities (under construction now).

* Osong Life Science Promotion Complex Support Center (3^rd rank official as head and 26 employees) is scheduled to be founded in end of Dec.

 

It also said that it will come up with various ways to ensure early settlement of the Osong Complex in close partnership with related organizations including Chungcheongbuk-do, etc.
