MOHW to temporarily allow face-to-face contact visits in nursing hospitals and facilities

Face-to-face contact visits in nursing hospitals and facilities will be allowed temporarily in celebration of the family month in May. For COVID-19 prevention, only non-contact face-to-face visits have been allowed in nursing hospitals and facilities since November 18, 2021.
This decision was made based in part on the number of confirmed cases continuing to decline and the rising demand for face-to-face visits from patients and their families.
The period available for contact visit is from April 30 to May 22. To qualify for contact visits, inpatients/residents and visitors need to meet one of the two following criteria regarding vaccination or recovery status:

② Was released from isolation recently (3 to 90 days ago) after a confirmed COVID-19 infection, regardless of vaccination status.
※ Visiting rules: △ (Before visiting) Body temperature, hand hygiene, and COVID-19 status (negative) will be checked △ (During the visit) No food or drink consumption allowed, wear a well-fitting mask at all times △ (After visit) Disinfect visiting space and ventilate for more than 15 minutes
Prior reservations need to be made for visits, and number of visitors per 1 patient/resident will be restricted to 4 persons.
Visitors need to have proof of negative COVID-19 status via PCR or rapid antigen test within 48 hours, be checked for body temperature, and disinfect their hands. Visitors who are unable to take a COVID-19 test in advance may be allowed to bring a rapid antigen test kit and get tested on site. (PCR or RAT test are exempt for those who were confirmed with COVID-19 within the last 45 days.)
Eating and drinking is prohibited during the visit, and disinfection and the space needs to be ventilated and disinfected after visit.
The government has requested nursing hospitals and facilities for preparations to ensure that the elderly and their families can have safe contact visits after a long separation.
