Provision of temporary emergency living subsidy to low-income households

저소득층 약 227만 가구에 한시 긴급생활지원금 지급 실시

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) announced that it will provide a temporary emergency living subsidy from June 24* to alleviate the living cost burden of the low-income households caused by the recent rapid inflation and to improve their spending power.

* Starting date varies by local government

 

The subsidy will be paid to a total of about 2.27 million households (excluding duplicates) for 1.79 million households receiving basic living security benefits, the next lowest income bracket, and about 480,000 single-parent households receiving child support.

 

The eligibility, amount and criteria for temporary emergency living subsidy for low income households by its number of members (Unit : KRW)

The temporary emergency living subsidies can be received by visiting community center without a separate application process. It will be provided in the form of a prepaid card or local currency (excluding paper) and it must be used by December 31, 2022.

 

Kwak Sookyoung, Director General of the Bureau of Welfare Policy of MOHW, said “We will do our best to quickly and accurately provide the temporary emergency living subsidy for low-income families to help those who are having difficulties in living due to the recent inflation.”
