PRESS RELEASE

Aug 5, 2022

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters investigated the hospitals that accept COVID-19 patients as general inpatients and their total number of patient beds through the respective local governments.

As of August 2, it was identified that 326 hospitals nationwide are able to accommodate as many as 6,829 COVID-19 patients as general inpatients. Currently, 3,475 COVID-19 patients are receiving inpatient care in general wards.

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters announced that it would continually expand the number of hospitals that accept COVID-19 patients as general inpatients so that those infected with COVID-19 can receive prompt and proper care at community hospitals.

The list of hospitals that are offer COVID-19 patients inpatient care in general wards can be checked on the website of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service(www.hira.or.kr).

Recently, the number of COVID-19 cases has been rapidly escalating again, and the rise in the number of visitors to screening clinics is likely to lengthen the waiting time and increase the risk of infection.

To expedite the PCR testing process, the Central Disease Control Headquarters opened the same-day reservation system.

Those who reserve their desired time in advance can undergo PCR testing without having to wait.

The Gangnam-gu Screening clinic introduced the same-day reservation system on July 13 for the first time in the nation. Now, as many as seven public health centers are operating this system. The system will be available at all public health centers (screening clinics) starting in August to prevent crowding at screening clinics, reduce the risk of infection, and provide rapid PCR testing.

Those wishing to use the system should access the COVID-19 Information Management System via text message, QR code, or app provided by each respective public health center, select the desired time of visit, and fill out the digital questionnaire to complete their same-day PCR testing reservation.
