For the First Anniversary of the Yoon Suk Yeol Administration, Government Listens to the Voices of Long-Term Nursing and Care Workers

- The First Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, Lee Kiil visited a long-term home-visit nursing institution on May 9 -

On Tuesday, May 9, at 4 p.m., Lee Ki-il, the First Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, visited the Seoul Total Nursing Center, a long-term home-visit nursing institution in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to listen to the voices of nurses and care workers.

Home-visit nursing, one of the long-term in-home care benefits from home care services*, is a benefit provided for home care service where a nurse who is a long-term care worker visits a beneficiary's home, etc., to provide nursing services, assist in medical treatment, give counsel regarding care, treat dental hygiene, etc. in accordance with the written instructions of a medical doctor, an oriental medicine doctor, or a dentist (referred to as “written instructions for home-visit nursing”).

 * Types of benefits from home care services: home-visit care, home-visit bathing, home-visit nursing, day and night care, short-term respite care, etc.

First Vice Minister Lee said, “Coordination among different groups of care providers, including nurses, nurse assistants, care workers, and social welfare workers, is important to ensure that elders sufficiently receive the various types of care they need in the comfort of their own home.”

He added, “The government will continue to expand long-term home care services as Korea heads toward becoming a super-aged society, and I would like to ask nurses to play an active role in home-visit nursing, a key service for the elderly in need of it.”
