<Summary>

On May 15, the Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Cho, KyooHong) hosted the world-renowned Professor Sam Richards and Laurie Mulvey, who gave a lecture on Korea’s future public welfare to the 2030 Generation by exploring the way to pursue welfare for the weak.

Professor Sam Richards highlighted that, “In the midst of rapid demographic change, the reform of the social security system such as the national pension in a sustainable way should be premised on ▲ ‘balance’ among generations and ▲ ‘trust’ in future compensation. In the meantime, foreign workers may play a role in lessening burden of the MZ generation.”

He added, “To create a ‘good society,’ the youth need to participate in policy-making by actively claiming their rights.”

Professor Laurie L. Mulvey emphasized that, “When there is a conflict among generations, races, or ideologies, creative solutions and innovation can be achieved only when the other side is percieved as a partner, not an opponent, who can suggest new and fresh perspectives and solutions.”

The lecture video is available on the official YouTube channel of the Ministry of Health and Welfare from June 15.
