3rd Government-wide Support Team for COVID-19 Treatment & Vaccine Meeting

Treatment and vaccine development to be fully supported for complete eradication of the COVID-19 pandemic - 3rd Government-wide Support Team for COVID-19 Treatment & Vaccine Development meeting was held on June 3 -

• Aiming to develop treatments within this year based on three strategies and actively supporting three core items for vaccine development
• Stabilizing supply of PPE and medical equipment and promoting domestic production of 11 key pieces of medical equipment
• KRW 100 billion R&D for clinical trials of treatments and vaccines

On June 3, the government held the 3rd Government-wide Support Team for COVID-19 Treatment & Vaccine Development (“Government-wide Support Team”) meeting at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul and discussed how to support development of treatments and vaccines to completely overcome COVID-19.

As discussed at the Industry-academia-research institute-hospital joint meeting chaired by President Moon on April 9, vaccine and treatment development has been recognized as “a goal that we must achieve” to eradicate COVID-19. In this sense, the above-mentioned measures were introduced with the aim of developing treatments and vaccines under the government’s leadership, thereby turning COVID-19 into an opportunity for the Korean bio-health industry.
