Title : Senior External Relations Officer Grade : P.6 Official station (country) : Geneva (Switzerland) Organizational Location/Unit : External Relations and Governing Bodies (EGB) External Cooperation and Partnerships (ECP) Objectives of the programme : The Department of External Cooperation and Partnerships (ECP) serves as the focal point for external coordination in the Organization, promotes international health issues and, whenever possible, forges partnerships with the UN system organisations, other intergovernmental and multilateral organizations and the civil society of relevance to WHO. The successful candidate will : - collaborate with organs of the UN system, other intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, and their secretariats, in areas of concern to WHO, primarily those in the context of socioeconomic development ; - represent WHO in interagency meetings dealing with technical cooperation issues, through negotiations with corresponding officials, analysis of policy and programme trends , and consultation with senior officials within WHO; - supervise a team of External Relations Officers at WHO headquarters and provide guidance in their work with UN, intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations. Qualifications Required : Education and Skills : Degree at postgraduate level from a recognized university or equivalent institution in social/political/economic sciences or advanced degree in public health; broad and sound knowledge of WHO and the UN system\''s programmes and structures; ability to analyse and draft complex documents and communications, to speak publicly, and to assure creative and positive relations; ability to work independently, within a teamwork environment. Experience : At least ten years\'' experience at senior level dealing with coordination of national and international health work, and international coordination programmes. Languages : Excellent knowledge of English and a good working knowledge of French. Annual salary (net of tax) : US$ 72 407 at single rate and US$ 78 334 with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: 19.6% of the above figures. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
