Title : Informatics Officer Grade : P.3 Official station (country) : Geneva (Switzerland) Organizational Location/Unit : Informatics and Infrastructure Services (IIS) Informatics and Telecommunication Services (ITS) User Support and Training (USP) Objectives of the programme : In general, to provide an efficient and effective Information Technology (IT) function in Headquarters (HQ), in support of the management objectives and priorities of the organization. In particular, the USP Team provides HQ and its users with wisely-chosen, coherent and harmonious, well-managed and supported IT tools for their work plus the IT information/knowledge they need to use them well. The successful candidate will : Provide technical and managerial support to information systems users; advise users on the organization and development of their information systems; study information requirements and write proposals; evaluate new hardware and software of potential interest to WHO/HQ, develop and maintain the WHO/Desktop environment, manage deployment projects. Qualifications Required : Education and Skills : A university degree in computer science, business administration or engineering. Specialization or certification in IT advanced technology desirable. Thorough knowledge of and practical experience with a wide variety of microcomputer hardware and software. Expert knowledge in selected equipment and software. Excellent communication skills. A helpful, pragmatic problem-solving attitude towards the users is essential. An understanding of management and management information needs desirable. Experience : Considerable experience with the development of computer-based information systems, including programming, ing, at least 3 years experience with microcomputers, the installation of systems and user support. Experience within UN or other international or multinational organizations desirable. Experience with the computer and software industry an advantage. Languages : Excellent knowledge of English or French with a working knowledge of the other language. Annual salary (net of tax) : US$ 46 445 at single rate and US$ 49 756 with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: 19.6% of the above figures. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
