Title : Technical Officer (post of limited duration - one year) Grade : P.3 Official station (country) : Geneva (Switzerland) Organizational Location/Unit : Health Technology and Pharmaceuticals (HTP) Vaccines and Biologicals (V&B)/Polio Objectives of the programme : To eradicate poliomyelitis and reduce morbidity and mortality from diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, yellow fever and measles by providing support to immunization against these diseases and through other interventions. Immunization against other disease may be added, where applicable. Emphasis will be placed on polio eradication activities. The successful candidate will : - Support the monitoring and analysis of global financial resource requirements, expected income and pledged contributions and the resulting funding gap. - Coordinate the preparation and submission of proposals by HQ, Regions and/or countries to core donors. - Coordinate the preparation and submission of technical reports and financial analyses for all polio grants managed at the global level. - Develop the HQ polio budget and workplan and oversee financial management. - Perform other duties as assigned by Technical Officer, Polio and Coordinator, Polio Eradication. Qualifications Required : Education and Skills : University degree in business administration, finance, social sciences, related field of study and/or specialized training in public health and/or administration. Training in public health, Masters degree in business administration would be an asset. Financial management and proposal/report-writing skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Computer literacy. Familiarity with WHO\''s administrative processes (i.e. AMS, AFI, PER, etc.) would be an asset. Experience : Several years experience in programme/project management, including financial management, at the international, regional and/or national level. Experience with an international organization and/or experience with nongovernmental organizations would be an advantage. Languages : Excellent knowledge of English or French, with a good working knowledge of the other language. Annual salary (net of tax) : US$ 46 445 at single rate and US$ 49 756 with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: 19.6% of the above figures. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
