Title : Informatics Officer Grade : P.5 Official station (country) : Harare (Zimbabwe) Organizational Location/Unit : Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) Division of Administration and Finance (DAF) Objectives of the programme : - To be responsible for the development, maintenance and coordination of the overall information systems in the African Regional and Country Offices of WHO. - To be responsible for the formulation, implementation and coordination of policy and strategies in informatics, networking and telecommunications in the African Regional and Country Offices of WHO. The successful candidate will : - Be responsible for the assessment of the Region\''s overall informatics, networking and telecommunications (INT) requirements. - Formulate policies, strategies and plans for INT development. - Ensure the development and coordinate INT support to the overall African Regional and Countries offices of WHO. - Coordinate internal relationships with HQ and other Regional Offices and with external partners. Qualifications Required : Education and Skills : Post graduate qualifications in information sciences, statistics, informatics or telecommunications; degree in Public Health and Health Planning would be an advantage; excellent knowledge of information systems and technologies; very good knowledge of informatics and system analysis; very good knowledge of telecommunications and skills in negotiating with contractors; ability to lead, manage and work with multidisciplinary team; Team Leader Skills would be an advantage. Experience : At least 10 years of practical experience in information system support to management, including at least 5 years at international and/or multicultural environment and including networking and telecommunications; good knowledge of programme planning and management would be an advantage. Languages : Excellent knowledge of English or French, with a good working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset. Annual salary (net of tax) : US$ 65 176 at single rate and US$ 70 157 with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: .% of the above figures. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
