Title : Technical Officer (Time-limited post - two years) Grade : P.3 Official station (country) : Lyons (France) Organizational Location/Unit : International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Unit of Radiation and Cancer (RCA) Objectives of the programme : The Overall objectives of the Unit of Radiation and Cancer are to study the carcinogenic effects of radiation (in particular low doses of ionising radiation ) in relation to radiation type, exposure pattern and host- and environmental factors. These objectives will be achieved through international epidemiological collaborative studies, integrating( where appropriate) molecular biology and genetic methods in a multidisciplinary approach. The successful candidate will : - be responsible for the day-day implementation, at IARC, of ongoing multicentric studies investigating exposures to radiation. - design instruments (e.g. questionnaires) for data acquisition on environmental exposures and on health effects; - keep up contacts with collaborating investigators to verify progress of data collection; - ensure constitution of databases at IARC; - implement data analyses; - prepare reports of results. Qualifications Required : Education and Skills : Masters\'' degree in epidemiology, environmental health or related disciplines. MD or Ph.D plus postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology, environmental and occupational health, biostatistics or related fields will be assets. Knowledge of epidemiological methods; knowledge of radiation, environmental and/or occupational cancer epidemiology; knowledge of epidemiological data collection and analyses; experience with computer packages for statistical analyses of epidemiology studies. Experience : Three to five years\'' experience of data collection, management , analysis and interpretation of epidemiological data at either national or international level. Previous experience of data collection and analysis in environmental cancer epidemiology will be an asset. Languages : Excellent knowledge of English, with a working knowledge of French. Annual salary (net of tax) : US$ 46 445 at single rate and US$ 49 756 with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: 9.4% of the above figures. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
